Who Is Kevin Durand?
Kevin Durand is a Canadian actor who has played soldiers, mercenaries, giants, exterminators and at least one angel. His Wikipedia page and IMDb profile list a long run of film and television work.
Most of his characters are either scary or secretly soft, and sometimes both in the same scene. That is a hard trick to pull off. He pulls it off a lot.
He is also, let us be honest, very hard to miss. At 6 feet 6 inches he fills a doorway, and casting directors clearly noticed years ago.

Kevin Durand Age and Birthplace
Kevin Durand was born on January 14, 1974, in Thunder Bay, Canada. He is 52 years old.
Thunder Bay is a city on the edge of Lake Superior. It is cold, quiet and a very long way from a Hollywood red carpet. Maybe that is why he never seems to chase attention.
He comes from a French Canadian family, something that pops up in nearly every profile of him. Canadian fans tend to mention it before anything else.
Kevin Durand Net Worth
The number people search for most. Kevin Durand’s net worth is estimated at roughly $1.5 million to $4 million, according to The Richest.
Yes, that is a wide gap. Celebrity net worth is mostly guesswork, and every website uses its own formula. Treat it as a rough picture, not a bank statement.
Where the Money Comes From
Acting, pure and simple. Film roles, a few television guest spots and several seasons of long running shows have paid his bills for a long time.
The Strain probably did the heavy lifting. A show that runs for multiple seasons gives an actor something film rarely does: a steady paycheque.
Why You See Different Numbers
Some sites count only salary. Some throw in houses and investments. Others quietly copy the number from a rival site, which is why you often see the same figure repeated across the internet.
Durand does not talk about money in interviews, so nobody outside his circle really knows. The estimate above is about as honest as it gets.
Kevin Durand Career Highlights
His credits, as listed on IMDb and Filmibeat, are a strange and wonderful mix. Let us start with the films.
Notable Film Roles
The Blob in the Wolverine Origin Film
He played Fred J. Dukes, also called The Blob, in the Wolverine origin film. It was a big, goofy and slightly tragic part, and a lot of viewers noticed him for the first time here.
Little John in Robin Hood
Next came Little John in Robin Hood, the huge friend who follows the hero into the forest. Casting him felt like the easiest decision anyone made on that film.
Gabriel in Legion and Ricky in Real Steel
In Legion he played the angel Gabriel, which is not the first job you would hand a man his size. In Real Steel he was Ricky, a tougher and shadier sort. Two very different roles within a short span.
Peter in Abigail
Then came Peter in the horror film Abigail. The cast is listed on the Abigail Wikipedia page if you want to see who he shared the screen with.
Proximus Caesar in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
Proximus Caesar is a loud, theatrical ape king who loves the sound of his own voice. Durand clearly had fun with it, and many fans say he was the best thing about that film.
Notable Television Roles
Vasiliy Fet in The Strain
Vasiliy Fet is a rat catcher turned vampire fighter. Because the show ran for several seasons, Durand got to grow the character slowly, with all the gruff humour and bruised pride that came with him.
Plenty of fans still call this his best work.
Martin Keamy in Lost
Keamy turned up late in Lost with a gun, a plan and absolutely no patience. People still argue about him in fan forums, which tells you how well he landed.
That small arc did a lot for Durand’s reputation. Shows with giant casts rarely let a newcomer steal attention.
Joshua in Dark Angel
Years earlier he had played Joshua in Dark Angel, a gentle and unusual character in a very strange world. It is a good reminder that his early image was far softer than the villains he later became known for.
Kevin Durand Height and Weight
Kevin Durand is 6 feet 6 inches tall, which is about 1.98 meters, according to IMDb. Stand next to him and most people would feel like children.
His weight is listed as around 238 to 240 lbs, roughly 108 kg, by sources like Superstars Bio and Namu Wiki.
Physical Profile at a Glance
- Height: 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 m)
- Weight: Approximately 238 to 240 lbs (108 kg)
- Build: Tall and broad, perfect for monsters and mercenaries
That frame is the reason directors keep calling him for the big roles. Interestingly, he rarely plays only the muscle. There is usually a joke or a wound underneath.
Kevin Durand Wife and Marriage
Kevin Durand is married to Sandra Cho. According to Wikipedia, they married on October 1, 2010.
Sandra is an actress herself. You may know her from Why Am I Doing This? and Cupid’s Arrow, both of which came out around the time she and Kevin were building their life together.
Keeping It Quiet
The couple do not share much. There are no staged family shoots, no long interviews about their love story and very few public photographs together.
It does mean fans know less than they would like. But it also means two actors have managed to keep a marriage mostly out of the gossip pages, which is no small thing.
Kevin Durand Kids
Kevin and Sandra have two daughters. Their first, Amélie Moon Durand, was born on August 30, 2015, according to UPI and People.
A second daughter followed, and her full name has been kept private. Some websites say Winter Fox, but the family has not clearly confirmed that, so take it with a pinch of salt.
Kevin has said very little about the girls in public. That seems deliberate.
Kevin Durand Parents and Ethnicity
His parents are Serge Durand and Reina Durand, born Reina Perreault, according to Wikipedia.
- Father: Serge Durand
- Mother: Reina Durand (née Perreault)
- Ethnicity: French Canadian, as noted by NHL Canadiens and Geni
Beyond those names, there is very little public information. His parents have stayed out of the limelight, and he has rarely brought them into interviews.
Kevin Durand Siblings
Does he have brothers or sisters? Probably, but nobody knows for sure. Kevin Durand has never shared or widely documented anything about siblings.
Be careful if you search this one. Several websites list siblings for “Kevin Durand” when they actually mean the basketball player Kevin Durant, whose brother and half siblings are well documented.
Kevin Durand Education and Early Life
Where he went to school is not widely documented. Interviews and profiles skip straight to the acting, and that is where the public record picks up.
What we can say is that he grew up in Thunder Bay and eventually found his way into acting through years of regular work. No dramatic overnight break, just a long climb.
That is a story you hear more often than you would think, especially with character actors. They get hired, do a good job and get hired again.
Why People Remember Kevin Durand
Watch a few of his scenes in a row and a pattern shows up. He does not rush. He lets a pause sit there, tilts his head, then says something that lands harder than it should.
His Keamy in Lost is a good example. He was never the biggest name on that show, but when he showed up, you paid attention.
Then there is the other side of him. Put him in a comedy or a gentle role and the same big body suddenly looks kind. It is a bit like watching a bear who has decided to be friendly.
And he keeps his name out of the news. No feuds, no strange headlines. Just films, shows and a quiet home life.

Kevin Durand Is Not Kevin Durant
Search engines mix these two up constantly. Kevin Durand is the actor. Kevin Durant is the basketball star. Different people entirely.
Kevin Durant was born on September 29, 1988, and he is 38 years old, according to Fox Sports and StatMuse.
He is listed at 6 feet 11 inches and 240 lbs, and he currently plays for the Houston Rockets, as shown on Wikipedia.
Funnily enough, their weights are almost the same. Their heights are not, and neither are their careers.
